Success Begins with HCC Automotive
Jason
Wright, a 2005 Automotive Systems Technology graduate, currently is
working at Alan Vester Nissan as an alignment technician. Jason has
always been interested in cars, and when he discovered the program at
HCC, he knew that it was where he wanted to be. After completing the
program, Jason quickly found employment at Alan Vester Nissan. “I am
very proud of Jason and all that he has accomplished.” Says his former
instructor, Hunter Taylor, “He is not only an outstanding automotive
tech, but also an outstanding person, and I know that he will do well
with all he chooses to do. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to
work with him at Halifax Community College.”
HCC offers
a one year diploma that prepares graduates to be entry-level automotive
technicians.
Halifax
Community College has also been the starting point for two Quality
Pontiac/ Bone's Toyota Technicians. 1994 Graduate Greg Angoglia and
2003 Graduate Dave Griffies are two members of their team of
well-trained and highly qualified automotive technicians. Greg is
currently a General Motors and Toyota trained technician, and Dave is a
General Motors trained technician.
“We have
two graduates, Greg Angoglia and Dave Griffies, from the automotive
program at HCC,.” Says Quality Pontiac/Bone's Toyota Service Manager
Steve Holliday, “Both technicians are doing outstanding work, and we
know that a large part of that is their education. The main thing about
this business now is training, and the community college program gives
them (their students) an “up-and-above” over everyone else that tries to
come into the industry.”
“This is a very
profitable career to be in, and the community college has an excellent
program. It taught me what I need to know to get started in this
career.” Says Dave Griffies.
