New Student Checklist

Don’t Wait Until The Last Minute

	Complete admissions application-Room 307 or Room 309 (300  Building). Copy of social security card must be Included.
	Complete and send high school or college transcript request forms to school or college. Admissions requires these documents be in your file prior to registration. Financial aid requires the same documents’ before Pell Grant payments.
	Sign up for the placement test -Room 307 (300 Building). Unless you have college credits that may waiver, you must take the placement test. You may re-test under certain conditions. For more information on re-testing contact Julia Horsley in Room 307 (300 Building) or call 536-7254.
	To change your major or for career information, go to Room 312 (300 Building) or call 536-7203, 536-7232, or 536-7254.
	Apply for Financial Aid right away, if needed, in Room 337 (300  Building). There are several forms to complete and documents that you must provide before your award can be determined. It is your responsibility to complete this process.
	See your academic advisor to register for classes. The Admission’s office assigns your advisor. If you are unsure of whom your advisor is, go to Room 323 (300 Building).

• Find out registration dates and times.

• Check on your financial aid progress!!

• You must pick up your official schedule at the cashier’s office. You are not enrolled until you go to the cashier’s office.

It looks like the printed form you would get from the college. It does require the Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher plug-in for your browser. If you don't have Acrobat, click here to download. (Select Acrobat Reader, the free product.)
After you download Acrobat, select the Application in Adobe Acrobat Format link above. You can either download the file to your computer by right-clicking on the link, or left-click to open it in your browser.

Or, apply online through the College Foundation of North Carolina. (You will have to set up an account at their website and you must print out a signature form and send it to HCC.)
