The College Tech Prep course of study allows students to
take career-related technical courses in addition to math, social studies,
science, and English classes. Through this program, high school students
begin pursuing career goals while meeting college course requirements.
Halifax County, Northampton County, Weldon City, and Roanoke Rapids high
school students must complete 4 credits in a career/technical sequence.
College Tech Prep completers then have the options of
pursuing a two-year degree. A grade of “B” or higher in the high school
course and a score of “80” or higher on the North Carolina standardized
VoCATS post-assessment will be used to award college credit. Students must
enroll in a NC community college within two years of high school
graduation.
