Enrollment 

Spring 2010 enrollment grew 20 percent over the spring 2009 enrollment. HCC’s spring 2010 enrollment was 1,730 students, which is the largest spring enrollment ever for the college. This compares to the 1,447 students who enrolled during the spring 2009 semester. 

The 1,730 enrollment for the spring 2010 semester breaks down as follows:

·   75 percent - Halifax County; 18 percent - Northampton County; 7 percent other NC counties or out-of-state

·   35 percent are males; 65 percent are females

·   72 percent enrolled in associate degree programs; 20 percent in diploma and certificate programs; 8 percent enrolled in Dual, Huskins or Early College programs

·   75 percent are aged 18-35 years old; 25 percent are 36 years old or older

·   Ethic breakdown – 51 percent African American; 44 percent White; 6 percent other ethnicity

·    81 percent returning students, 13 percent first-time students; 6 percent transfer students
