Plans Allied Health Equipment and Facility Upgrades
Halifax Community College
plans to spend $148,762 to upgrade equipment and facilities related
to its allied health programs.
The project will be completed in four
segments.
Segment I
Upgrade the Centre auditorium
to make it useable as a large classroom.
This will involve installing two 106” x
188” High Definition flat screen TVs on either side of the stage.
The screens will allow a close-up of the
instructor and any accompanying instructional aids.
A High Definition camcorder and two 6000
lumen wide format projectors will provide visual and video
capabilities.
Audio upgrades will involve the
installation of four monitor speakers on the stage area.
Projected cost for this segment is
$43,347.82.
Segment II
Purchase and install a
digital radiography machine in the dental hygiene lab of the Allied
Health Building.
Total cost of the unit with server and
installation is $51,874.17.
Segment III
Install a wireless hotspot
system to provide wireless capability to the entire campus.
One 5Ghz base radio and four 5Ghz CPE
radios along with 37 outdoor AP radios will convert HCC to a WiFi
zone.
Total cost for the unit is $22,512.63.
Segment IV
Update the nursing/dental
hygiene computer lab.
Replacing obsolete equipment will be 27
Dell OptiPlex 380 minitower computers for use in computer aided
instruction and test taking.
Segment cost: $31,100.31.
The project is being financed
through a congressional appropriation arranged by Rep. G.K.
Butterfield of North Carolina’s First Congressional District.
Work is projected to start Sept.15 and
be completed by December 15, 2010.
