King scholarship established at HCC
Interstate Storage & Distribution, family
and friends have established the Tommy J. King Memorial
Scholarship to be awarded to a student who maintains a 3.0
GPA and is enrolled at least part-time at HCC. Applicants
will need to provide recommendation letters recognizing
their citizenship qualities as well as community involvement
through volunteer activities or leadership roles. Eligible
students will also need to demonstrate financial need
through a written statement. The scholarship will recognize
and promote academic achievement for a student enrolled at
HCC who is in need of financial assistance.
Wanting to do something in memory of his
father, David King, who is a member of the HCC Foundation
Board, decided to establish the scholarship. “It is
something I wanted to do and waited for the time to be
right,” he said.
