RVEC hosts 2014 Senior Banquet
 
WELDON, N.C. – Roanoke Valley Early College (RVEC) hosted the Class of 2014 Senior Banquet on May 6 on the campus of Halifax Community College (HCC). Various scholarships and awards were presented. Program participants included:

  • Nicole Baker (Delta Sigma Theta—Roanoke Rapids Chapter)
  • Jakia Bennett (Junior Class Advisor, RVEC)
  • Dr. Elie Bracy III (Superintendent, Weldon City Schools)
  • Chris Butler (Principal, RVEC)
  • Amber Credle (Junior Class Advisor, RVEC)
  • Tiffany Evans (Alpha Kappa Alpha Debutant)
  • Dan Gerlach (President, Golden LEAF)
  • Viola Gilbert (Assistant Principal Intern, RVEC)
  • Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr. (President/CEO, HCC)
  • Elvin James (Fayetteville State University)
  • Eva Ott (Counselor, RVEC)

  • RVEC Teachers
  • Barbara Smith (Delta Sigma Theta—Rocky Mount Chapter)
This is the first graduating class for RVEC. Twenty-two RVEC high school seniors received an associate’s degree or certificate from HCC during commencement on May 10, before they graduate from high school. Some $655,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 18 graduating RVEC students. Thirty-five out of 41 seniors have been accepted by a four-year college or university. Several students have received multiple college acceptance letters. So far, 73 college acceptance letters have been received by these students. Of the 22 students graduating from HCC and RVEC, seven students received an Associate in Arts and a degree/certificate from HCC. Four more students received certificates only. RVEC hosts 2014 Senior Banquet
Roanoke Valley Early College (RVEC) hosted the Class of 2014 Senior Banquet on May 6 on the campus of Halifax Community College. During the ceremony, Golden LEAF President Dan Gerlach presented RVEC senior, Charell Vincent, with a Golden LEAF Scholarship.
