Griffin receives appreciation plaque from RV Adult Day Care
 
WELDON, N.C. Ė Halifax Community College (HCC) President Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr. recently received a plaque of appreciation from the Roanoke Valley Adult Day Care Center. Griffin was the keynote speaker for the centerís second annual fundraising banquet held on Nov. 7 at Kirkwood Adams Community Center.

Griffin spoke on the topic, "Leadership and Success in the New Millennium: 21st Century Leadership Trials and Triumphs." He discussed the keys to making strategic decisions to solve problems and provide viable solutions which included:
  • Be flexible in your approach to issues and how you deal with the people involved
  • Be a strategic planner and thinker
  • Understand all of the issues in your particular area of expertise and be open to experiences outside of your known purview
  • Be a results-oriented leader and be concerned about strategic outcomes
  • Obtain your terminal degree in your area of expertise and take advantage of professional development opportunities through active participation in local, state and national organizations
  • Be passionate about your lifeís work or do something else
  • Always let your work reflect your conviction in maintaining the highest standards of leadership and excellence possible
The Roanoke Valley Adult Day Care Center is located in Weldon. It provides services for adults who are physically impaired, socially isolated, in need of assistance with personal care, mentally confused or limited in their ability to function independently in the community.
