BB&T Scholarship Fund established at HCC

Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T) recently presented a $50,000 check to Halifax Community College to establish the BB&T Scholarship Fund, which will provide two scholarships at the college. BB&T will contribute up to $10,000 per year for five years. Funds will be used to support local high school students with the highest grade point average from their respective schools within the service area who intend to attend HCC.

“The community college is instrumental in helping the community to progress and certainly education is one of BB&T’s primary focus areas. So, we felt that the community college represented an excellent opportunity for BB&T to support the community, support the endeavors of the community and support the individuals as well,” explained BB&T Regional President Steve Medlin.
