Sallie Hudson Memorial Scholarship
established at HCC
The Pilot Club of the Roanoke Valley has established the
Sallie Hudson Memorial Scholarship to support a rising
senior nursing student at Halifax Community College. The
scholarship will be awarded based on grade point average,
residence in the Roanoke Valley, and rising senior status.
“We wanted to give something in memory of
Sallie because she was such a faithful member to Pilot Club.
She did blood drives and was community-service oriented. She
used to teach a craft class at HCC, too,” explained Ann
Martin of the Pilot Club’s scholarship committee. With
Hudson’s daughter, Terri Hudson, being an HCC nursing
graduate and the Pilot Club focusing on brain safety and
brain-related disorders, members thought it would be a good
match to support the nursing program with a scholarship.
