Roanoke Rapids Lions Club presents donation to HCC
President of the Roanoke Rapids Lions Club Robert Gordon and
Lions Club District Governor Alex Thannikkary recently
presented the Halifax Community College Foundation with a
contribution to benefit the Roanoke Rapids Lions Club
scholarship was established in July 1995 to recognize and
promote academic achievement and excellence for a Halifax
Community College student. Preference is given to applicants
who are visually impaired or are relatives of members of the
Roanoke Rapids Lions Club.
scholarship recipient must reside in Roanoke Rapids or be a
graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School; demonstrate academic
promise as determined by attaining and maintaining a grade
point average of 2.0; enroll full-time at Halifax Community
College and demonstrate a commitment to program completion;
provide two letters of recommendation recognizing the
applicant’s qualities of citizenship; and, demonstrate
financial need as evidenced by a written statement from the
recipient is selected by the Halifax Community College
Financial Aid Committee based on the established criteria.
The scholarship is awarded annually pending available funds.
