• P.R.I.D.E. Math and English Tutoring Lab

lab

The P.R.I.D.E. Cooperative Learning Math and English Tutoring Lab is a smart classroom that is designed to improve performance and academic success in math and English courses. It also serves as writing, tutoring, advising, and an open lab. The lab includes 25 desk top computers, cooperative learning stations, a SMART board with ELMO, and wireless internet.

Professional Tutors

The lab is staffed by professional tutors with bachelor degrees in the respective disciplines and high performing students enrolled in upper level math and English courses. Tutoring is scheduled by appointment, small, groups, or entire classes. Generally, the lab operates a minimum of 35 hours weekly.

Lap Top Loan Program

The P.R.I.D.E. lab also includes 18 laptop computers that may be checked out by program participants. The HCC Library, because of its extended hours, is the location for check out. Individuals returning a laptop must wait 48 hours before reserving one again. This provides opportunities for other individuals to use this service.

Laptops are insured against typical damages, but not conditions of loss or theft. Individuals checking out laptops are responsible for replacement cost. This cost is prorated based on the age of the computer.

Check- out Policy

Laptops may be secured during the library operating hours.

Laptops may be borrowed for a maximum period of 48 hours. Keeping one beyond that period without approval will result in a fine of $1.00 per day for every day that the laptop is not returned. Continued abuse can result in revoked privileges and possible indefinite suspension of loan eligibility.

Borrowers are responsible for laptops while in their possession and are responsible for replacement cost.

Laptop reservations must be made in person via the use of the HCC ID card.
