The SSS Summer
Bridge Program is designed to help ease the students' adjustment to
college life and build a foundation for academic success. Applicants
who meet program criteria will be eligible to participate in a
week-long curriculum that focuses on academic enrichment at the
college level.
How do I qualify?
To be eligible for participation, a student is required to:
1. Complete and submit the SSS Summer Bridge Program application
2. Be a North Carolina resident (note: parent/legal guardian
establishes residency)
3. Be a high school/GED graduate
4. Be a first-time college student (may have dual-enrollment credit)

How do I benefit
as a program participant?
Students admitted to the SSS Summer Bridge Program will participate
in a week-long
program in which they will:
1. Receive comprehensive orientation to campus and academic
requirements
2. Be exposed to freshman level or preparatory level classes
3. Get to meet key college faculty, staff, and administrators
4. Receive college transfer advisement
5. Participate in a cultural activity/trip
Upon completion of the Summer Bridge Program, students are adjusted
to college life and well acquainted with the campus and important
college personnel. In addition, they have developed good study
habits and time management skills.
How do I apply?
Prospective students should submit a SSS Summer Bridge application
to Student Support Services at P.O. Drawer 809, Weldon, NC 27890. It
is strongly recommended that students apply as early as possible
during the fall term of their senior year in high school. The
application deadline is May 23rd, 2008. Applicants may access the
