Retaking Courses in HCC Dental Hygiene Curriculum

  • Students who have previously completed dental science courses (DEN prefix) follow specific requirements during their enrollment in the Halifax Community College Dental Hygiene Program regarding the transfer and credit of these courses into the program.

  • The Dental Hygiene Department Head has the authority to decide which courses the student will be required to retake for a grade. A signed contract will be required as proof of the student's agreement with the Department Head's recommendations.

  • Students who are not required to retake any DEN course will be expected to attend orientation sessions as recommended by the Dental Hygiene Department Head. The course instructor will notify the student when these lectures/labs/clinics are required. These students will agree by contract to attend lectures/labs/clinics at the instructor's recommendation. Students who do not attend these lectures/labs/clinics may be dismissed from the Dental Hygiene Program.

  • Tests and lab practicals must be taken prior to enrollment and at the convenience of the instructor administering the exam.
