Prospective Student Letter
Dear Prospective Dental Hygiene Student:
Thank you for your interest in the Dental Hygiene Program at Halifax
Community College. Please read the contents of the enclosed information
carefully to insure your understanding of this highly competitive program
of study and the required admissions procedures.
The Dental Hygiene curriculum offered by Halifax Community College is a
limited enrollment program with first year students beginning each fall.
Acceptance into the program is competitive; sixteen (16) individuals are
admitted to the first level each year. All applicants must meet minimum
requirements and specific deadlines.
Due to the many people interested in our Dental Hygiene curriculum, we are
unable to schedule an individual appointment with you to review program
information. We are pleased to offer a series of information sessions that
will cover admissions policies, procedures, and the academic requirements
of the program.
In an effort to provide you with the most current and comprehensive
information about the program and afford you the opportunity to ask
questions, you must attend an Information Session. Advisors from the
Dental Hygiene Department will discuss the application procedures, minimum
requirements, and ranking criteria that are considered when evaluating the
academic credentials of an applicant to the Dental Hygiene Program. The
schedule for upcoming sessions is included in this packet.
We look forward to meeting with you at one of our Information Sessions.
Sincerely,
D.J. Markham, RDH, MSEd
Dental Hygiene Department Head/Instructor
