Vet Centers in Greenville and Raleigh
  • Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30 pm www.vetcenter.va.gov
  • Both accept walk-ins and offers appointments. Veterans need to take discharge documents. These centers coordinate with the VA Outpatient Clinics for medication and physical health problems, and work with Veterans Service Officers for claims assistance.

    Support Groups

    Henderson Group – Free support group for combat veterans is offered by the Raleigh Vet Center at the American Legion Building, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 10:30 am until 12:00 noon. The goal of this group is to address interpersonal issues resulting from war zone experiences—including loss, anxiety, depression, pain, health, combat experiences and family issues. In order to participate in the group, veterans must first contact and meet with Ray Koval, Raleigh Vet Center, and (919) 856-4616. There are not residency requirements. Roanoke Rapids Group -- Free Veterans PTSD/Readjustment Support Group is offered by the Greenville Vet Center for combat veterans and their family members on 2nd / 4th Thursdays, 10am-11:30am at 11B West 3rd St., Roanoke Rapids. All veterans will have to be screened and assessed before entering the group. Individual sessions are also available. Contact Chauncey McLeod, Readjustment Counseling Therapist, Greenville Vet Center, (252) 355-7920. There are not residency requirements. Granville County—meets each Wednesday from 2-4pm at Hilltop Village Shopping Center, Oxford; sponsored by Granville Co. Veterans Affairs Committee. Veterans and families may attend. Concerns will be forwarded to Pello Duncan, Veterans Services Officer. Computers will be available to use to access the E-Benefits website. Call (919) 690-2757 for more information.

    Kerr Tar Regional Transportation (KARTS) has a van that goes to Durham & Chapel Hill each day; Van goes to Raleigh on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday; Cost $20-$25 Per ROUND TRIP. You must call and make reservations 48 hours in advance.
