The Department of Criminal Justice Technology &
Training is composed of two separate programs; the 2-year Associate in
Applied Science Degree and the 16-week Basic Law Enforcement Training
(BLET) Certificate Course.
The Criminal Justice Associate in Applied Science
Degree is an
academic field of study which provides students with an in-depth
examination and understanding of the inter-related network, systems,
responsibilities, and missions of our American criminal justice system.
Graduates of the program may choose to:

continue their education by
transferring to a senior institution to earn a bachelor’s degree

seek employment in the
criminal justice field

enhance promotion in their
current job
The Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET)
Certificate Course is an intense
16-week law enforcement academy covering 35-law enforcement topics which
range from firearms qualification to laws of arrest, search, & seizure.
Successful completion of the program qualifies the student cadet to take
the state exam for certification as a North Carolina law enforcement
office at either the state, county, or municipal levels.
