PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR / CHILD CARE CENTER

       

 

Duties:   Assist the Child Care Lead Instructor in all aspects of classroom management; ensure the welfare, health, and safety of children in care; understand and comply with NC Child Care  requirements.

 

 Qualifications Required:  AAS Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development; or related field; 2 years experience in licensed Child Care Center.

SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR / CHILD CARE CENTER

 Qualifications Required:  High school diploma; N.C.  Early Childhood Credentials or completion of credentials within 6 months of date of hire; 2 years experience in a licensed child care center preferred.

ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN  / ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE

Department:  Administrative Services / Financial Services

 

Duties:  Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Technician / Accounts Receivable is responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable (A/R) subsidiary ledger and assisting students with inquiries regarding their student A/R accounts. The position is responsible for the timely submission of required reporting of financial information involving accounts receivable.

 

Responsible for the posting of charges to A/R accounts including sponsor (third party) charges, Pell Grant charges, billings for Continuing Education classes, child care fees, and any other charges required to appear under accounts receivable.  Responsible for counseling students on charges, payments, refunds and any other item appearing on their student A/R account. Responsible for issuing invoices to all sponsor accounts and any other outside agency authorized to charge tuition or fees under accounts receivable. Regularly contacts sponsor agencies to keep them informed on changes in tuition rates and student fees, of dates and times for registration, to request required written authorization to charge fees, and any other information needed to keep the A/R accounts in good standing. Works with the Accounting Technician / Institutional Funds, Bookstore, and Financial Aid to post Pell charges and payments to student accounts in preparation of the issuing of Pell checks to students. Works closely with Financial Aid to maintain student awards posted to student A/R accounts and to assist in reconciling student A/R accounts with Financial Aid records for the purpose of reporting to outside agencies. Works with the Registrar's Office to assist students with the positing of tuition charges, refunds for dropped classes, and adjustments to student A/R accounts. Prepares monthly the accounts receivable Aged Trial Balance report, reconciles accounts that are out of balance, and sends out notices of outstanding billings. Aggressively collects delinquent accounts and returned checks. Prepares and submits the debt set-off report to the appropriate state agency and provides a copy to the Controller. Prepares and analyzes month-end accounts receivable reports, reconciles the accounts receivable subsidiary ledger, and submits a month-end report to the accountants for State and Institutional funds to be reconciled to the general ledger. Prepares year-end report of student accounts with uncollected balances that are more than three years old and for which all means of collection have been exhausted. This report is submitted to the Controller and VP of Administrative Services by May 15 for presentation to the Board of Trustees who must approve the write-off of uncollectable accounts receivable. Complete reports as required by the NCCCS, the NC State Auditor, the NC State Controller, and other governmental agencies. Cross train in other Business Office functions such as general ledger and accounts payable. Works closely with other members of the College to maintain the accreditation standards with the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) and other program accrediting bodies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

 

Qualifications Required:    Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration, 3 years business office experience, competency in Excel and Word, would prefer community college experience.

SUBSTITUTE COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

       

Duties:   Instructor plan and implement educational activities to ensure that student learning outcomes are consistent with program learning outcomes and the mission of the College.  The Instructor participates in ongoing professional development and campus activities. If you have currently submitted an application packet for this position you need not apply.  Your application packet will be considered.

 

Qualifications Required:  Cosmetology license and teaching certificate.  Two or more years experience as a cosmetologist; teaching experience preferred.

PART-TIME NURSING CLINICAL FACULTY (2 Positions)

 

Duties:  The part-time clinical nursing instructor will be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of a group of nursing students in the clinical setting, including assigning clients based on student learning needs, facilitating learning in the clinical setting, and evaluating students based on course objectives and the NEWH Clinical Evaluation Tool.  This position will report to the Department Head of Nursing.

 

Qualifications Required:  Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the ability to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing's requirements for preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education within the first 3 years of employment.  Master of Science in Nursing preferred.  Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience.  First set of applications to be reviewed by July 9, 2010.

PART-TIME DEVELOPMENTAL MATH INSTRUCTOR/

MATH LAB RESOURCE SPECIALIST/TUTOR

(1 POSITION)

Duties:  The instructor's primary responsibility is to teach developmental math classes in introductory algebra.  The instructor is responsible for grading and providing feedback on student assignments, maintaining accurate recordkeeping to include attendance and grades, assisting in retention efforts of students, completing and submitting required instructional and administrative reports and records in a timely manner.  In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful applicant will provide individual and group tutorial services in a computer-based laboratory setting; maintain accurate attendance, inventory and recordkeeping.  This position will also enforce security measures in the laboratory, gather performance data for students using the math lab, monitor and provide information regarding improvements in the lab and its procedures, implement all college policies and procedures.  Applicant will report to the department chair and the Freedom to Learn Program Director.

Qualifications Required:  BA or BS in Math or related field or 18 graduate hours in Math.

Qualifications Preferred:  Previous teaching experience in developmental mathematics and automated educational programs.  Demonstrate ability to routinely incorporate technology into instructional and faculty responsibilities.  Ability to use and develop teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration among students.  Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.  Enthusiastic commitment to using teamwork to achieve program, institutional, and community goals.  Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
