Learning Assistance Center (LAC)
LAC Coordinator: Betty Brown
The LAC (Learning Assistance Center), located in the Library at Halifax
Community College, is a staffed, resource lab for students, faculty, and
staff. Computers and audio-visual aids are available for use in many
curricula.
For students the LAC provides assistance with word processing to
complete assignments, tutorial software to improve basic skills, or use
supplemental software as part of course requirements. The center also
furnishes an audio/visual area for assigned videos. Special testing
accommodations allow students to take make-up or re-tests outside of
regular classroom testing location. The LAC also assists students with
Internet access as it relates to course work.
For faculty and staff, the LAC personnel provide software
assistance and technical support, including workshops for professional
development.
