HCC STUDENT WINS BABY LOVE AWARD

| Pam Carlson, HCC student and young
mother, was recently selected as the "Outstanding Participant in the
Baby Love Program" from counties in eastern North Carolina. Her
sponsor, the Child Service Coordinator Program of the Halifax County
Health Department, nominated her for the award. |
Pam Carlson, a sophomore at Halifax Community College,
majoring in Human Services Technology-Social Services, was recently
recognized at the annual conference in Greensboro as the "Outstanding
Participant in the Baby Love Program." Ms. Carlson was selected over
all other candidates from eastern North Carolina as this year's
recipient and won an all-expenses paid stay in Greensboro with her two
little girls – Mary, 3 and Kala, 2.
According to Takisha Pittman, Child Service Coordinator
of the Halifax County Health Department, Pam was the hands-down choice for
the award. Ms. Carlson has been an exemplary participant in the program
since the birth of her first child and is known for her outstanding
participation.
In addition to her busy schedule of classes and the full
responsibility of tending to her young daughters, Ms. Carlson works
part-time in the college print shop as a work-study student. |
