Halifax Community College hosted the 2001 College Day tour sponsored by
the Carolina Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers
(CACRAO) at the Weldon campus last week. The College Day at HCC is one of
the CACRAO recruiters’ scheduled stops on the fall tour to promote their
institutions.
College Day is an opportunity for HCC students and visiting high school
students to have a chance to talk with representatives of four-year
colleges and universities about their educational plans for the future.
According to Kimberley Robinson, HCC college transfer specialist, the
event was a success. Visiting CACRAO recruiters for the event represented
more than forty colleges, and 116 Halifax Community College students
participated.
Area high school students moved through the large crowd of four-year
college-bound students from HCC, Halifax County pubic schools, and several
private schools.
HCC recruiters also were on hand to promote Halifax Community College
options and the college transfer program available to high
school students after they have completed a two-year undergraduate program
at HCC.
A growing number of local students who plan to complete four years of
college are taking advantage of Halifax Community
College’s college transfer program. The reputation for quality
instruction, affordability, and convenience to home and work, have
influenced more and more students each year to select HCC as the first
choice for their first two years of undergraduate work.
