introduced her niece, award-winning
author and playwright Julie Rogers, to a class at Halifax Community
College.
Ms. Rogers was in town, visiting her Aunt Jerry and also promoting her
book – Happy Tails. One of her plays, "Garage Sale,"
was featured at the recent Lakeland Playwright Festival in Littleton. As a
favor to her aunt and also as a treat for Halifax Community College, she
visited a distance learning classroom setting and spoke to English and
public speaking/communications students, gathered for the occasion.
Students at Martin Community College also got to hear the author/screen
writer’s delightful commentary, via the teleconferencing capabilities of
the North Carolina Information Highway at Halifax Community College.
The classroom was filled to capacity and students listened earnestly to
the articulate and attractive visitor as she answered their frequent
questions and talked candidly about the trials and tribulations of getting
a book published. She also outlined her career as a writer of Hollywood
screenplays – she currently has two "horror" tales in the
works and admits these are her favorite genre.
Julie Rogers, co-founder of Good Shepherds Animal Assisted Therapy, has
devoted her life to raising, rescuing, training and overseeing animals. As
a result of her experience and background, she has written and published a
book about the therapeutic value of pets in diminishing grief - Happy
Tails, and she has other self-help books under development to follow
its success. She lives with her husband, young son, and their many pets in
Arkansas.
