2001 Campus Fund Drive: September 24 -

"Planting the Seeds of
Growth"

The Halifax Community College Foundation kicked off
the 2001 Annual Campus Fund Drive the week of September 24. HCC
employees were asked by team captains to make gifts and pledges to
support the scholarship program at the college. Scholarships can provide
opportunities for many students who cannot afford otherwise the cost of
tuition and books. They also pave the way for future graduates who will
become productive taxpayers in our community. Scholarships are most
certainly an investment in our community's future.
Pam Ballew, HCC Foundation director, explained the
purpose of the 2001 campus campaign – "Planting the Seeds of
Growth…."
"An investment in Halifax Community College is a
direct investment toward the economic growth and stability of this area.
An investment also signifies our employees' faith in this institution
as a leader in the community and in this region. It sends a signal to
students and to the community at large that we are proud of this
institution, and we put stock in its future.
"The fact that HCC provides access to higher
education and the latest technology right here in the Roanoke Valley is
one of the best selling points to win over inquiring visitors. By
providing training for the future and for the existing workforce, the
college is a partner in attracting and keeping businesses here –
helping us to improve the quality of life for all area citizens." |
