More than 1200 students traveled to the HCC campus by bus, at staggered times during the day on March 22, to participate in prearranged career choice sessions featuring HCC curriculum programs.

Careers 2002 was a special event targeted toward area middle schoolers. The all-day event provided rising eighth grade students an opportunity to examine career pathways to help them chart an educational future before registering for career tracks in the ninth grade. The young teens came from ten middle schools in Roanoke Rapids, Halifax and Northampton Counties.

Delores Amason, HCC Dean of Student Services, coordinated the event with the help of volunteers from faculty and staff throughout the campus.
