HCC Hosts Law Enforcement Recognition Day Valentines Day – February 14

(From left) R.K. Carroll, Elizabeth Perkins, and Joy Cooley welcomed Bryan Beatty, NC Secretary of Crime Control and Public Safety, to the HCC campus.

Halifax Community College hosted a special event honoring law enforcement personnel on Valentine's Day, February 14. "Law Enforcement Has Heart" was a day of recognition both in remembrance of the tragedy of September 11 and a tribute to recognize and salute our hometown heroes involved every day in law enforcement efforts. The public was invited to come and to show their support for these dedicated men and women who serve their communities with compassion.

Bryan E. Beatty, North Carolina Secretary of Crime Control and Public Safety was guest speaker for the event.

Special guests included representatives from all area law enforcement agencies in the college service area – officers, judges, attorneys, employees of area correctional centers and others who work faithfully in the justice system and in law enforcement sectors. Each law enforcement agency in the service area was recognized during the assembly and representatives from each agency were called to the podium to receive a commemorative plaque.
