HCC offers EMT-Intermediate Class
Halifax Community College (HCC) will offer an
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Intermediate class
beginning Tuesday, Aug. 3. The class will meet on Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at the Weldon campus. Some Saturday
classes will be required. The textbook, “AAOS Intermediate
Emergency Care” and its workbook are required.
Students will also register in an EMT-Intermediate Online
Supplement class. The class consists of 12 modules with five
hours of material each. This accompanies the classroom
section.
The third section of the course consists of 60 hours of
clinical training on an ambulance and 48 hours of training
in the hospital.
Students must take reading, writing and math placement tests
in order to register for EMT-Intermediate. Students who do
not score at the 12th grade level may enroll in
the Learning Lab in Building 500 free of charge and will be
allowed to re-test only on completion of 15 hours of
