HCC offers EMT-Basic Class
Halifax Community College (HCC) will offer an
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic class beginning
Monday, Aug. 16. The class will meet on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Weldon campus. Some
Saturday
classes will be required. The textbook, “AAOS Emergency Care
and Transportation of the Sick and Injured,” 9th
edition and its workbook are required.
Students will also register in an EMT-Basic Online
Supplement class. The class consists of 10 modules with five
hours of material each. This accompanies the classroom
section.
The third section of the course consists of 24 hours of
clinical training on an ambulance.
Students must take reading placement test in order to
register for EMT-Basic. Students who do not score at the 12th
grade level may enroll in the Learning Lab in Building 500
free of charge and will be allowed to re-test only on
completion of 15 hours of remediation. Call the Learning Lab
