Thirty-four HRMC employees earn CRC
credentials through HCC
A recognition ceremony was held on March 9
in the Halifax Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Auditorium for
unit secretaries and food and nutrition staff who recently
earned Career Readiness Certificates (CRC).
Twenty-four unit secretaries and 10 food and
nutrition employees were recognized.
All of these employees went through an intense
process that tested them in three areas – reading, locating
information and applied math.
Receiving a CRC is a credential recognized
in the state and across the nation that validates that
employees have the necessary skills to perform their jobs.
HRMC worked with Halifax Community College (HCC) to offer
this opportunity to its employees.
Funding was made available through Turning
Point Workforce Development Board. Turning Point is
responsible for developing policies and overseeing local
workforce development initiatives in partnership with local
elected officials. The CRC program is a partner with Turning
Point, which coordinated a grant from the N.C. Department of
Commerce for the program.
HCC Business/Industry Coordinator Larry
Crisafulli talked about the CRC and thanked Turning Point
members for their assistance. He also recognized the
Employment Security Commission for being a partner with the
program.
“You’ve done yourself proud for going
through this process. Let this just be the start,” added
Crisafulli to those earning certificates.
HCC’s
Continuing Education Division offers the CRC program as an
assessment-based credential that gives employers and career
seekers a uniform measure of key workplace skills.
ACT WorkKeys®, a nationally-recognized job skills assessment
system is the administrator of the CRC program in the United
States. ACT
recognizes that a stronger workforce can be developed by
bridging the skills gap and providing economic development
tools that show the strength of the workforce.
