HCC takes part in campus-wide challenge
for Red Cross
Halifax Community College has joined in the Red Cross Heroes
Campaign, which is a grassroots fundraising effort that
takes place during the month of March. Monies raised stay in
designated counties. For the HCC campus, this means that
donations will benefit Halifax and Northampton counties.
The challenge began March 1 and other
colleges are participating including Nash Community College,
Edgecombe Community College and North Carolina Wesleyan. The
minimum each college is challenged to raise is $1000. At
stake—the 2010 Hero College trophy that will be presented to
the college that raises the most money.
HCC President, Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr.
made the first gift to the campaign. All faculty, staff and
students are encouraged to give to the cause.
Individuals can contribute cash at the HCC
Cashier’s window in Building 300, specifying “Red Cross.”
Personal checks should be made payable to the Red Cross and
delivered to Dean of Student Services & Enrollment
Management Barbara Bradley-Hasty also in Building 300. The
college’s Student Government Association is selling tickets
to help raise money for the activity. Contact the
organization at (252) 536-7298 for more information.
