CENTRE ANNOUNCES NEW PERFORMING ARTS SERIES
The Centre at Halifax Community College is not
only celebrating the college’s 40th anniversary this week, but also
has just announced its 2007-2008 Performing Arts Series.
The North Carolina Dance Theatre will kick off the
season at 8:00 p.m., Sept. 28. In "American Masterpieces," the
highly acclaimed dance theatre will perform some of the best
American choreography of the century. Included are works by Alvin
Ailey, George Balanchine and Twyla Tharp. Tickets range from $10-$45
each.
Next, the music tribute, "A Closer Walk with Patsy
Cline," will take the stage at 8:00 p.m., Nov. 16. Follow Cline’s
climb to stardom from her hometown roots in Virginia to The Grand
Ole Opry, Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall. The show features more than
20 of her hits such as "Crazy," "Walkin’ After Midnight," "Sweet
Dreams," "She’s Got You," and "I Fall to Pieces." Tickets range from
$5 to $25 each.
Just in time for the holidays, the North Carolina
Symphony will perform at 8:00 p.m., Dec. 1. Bring the whole family
and get into the spirit of the season with the much-loved festive
concert. The show will feature favorite carols and sing-alongs.

Aquila Theatre Company’s production of
Shakespeare’s "Julius Caesar" will follow the epic story of the rise
and fall of one of the world’s most famous leaders at 8:00 p.m.,
Feb. 5. Aquila’s production asks the audience to consider the price
of democracy and freedom and the consequences that can befall a
society when asked to defend its core beliefs. Tickets range from
$10 to $40 each.
Next, join the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth and
Amy—as one of Ameri ca’s most beloved books comes to the stage in
"Little Women—The Broadway Musical," at 8:00 p.m., Apr. 22. This new
musical, based on Louisa May Alcott’s story about the power of
family, friendship and romance, is capturing the hearts of a new
generation and captivating audiences of all ages. Tickets range from
$15 to $45 each.
Finally, Riders In The Sky will perform at 8:00
p.m., May 31. Get ready to ride through an evening of wacky western
wit and adventures as "Riders Radio Theatre…On The Road!" thrills
audiences, young and old. Tickets range from $10 to $25 each.
