Wes has served with Halifax
Community College as the Director of the Department of Criminal Justice
Technology & Training within the Division of Public Services Technology
since 2005. The Department incorporates the two-year Associate Applied
Science degree program in criminal justice and the sixteen-week Basic Law
Enforcement Training (BLET) program.
He retired from active duty law enforcement in 2004
after thirty-six years of professional service which included law
enforcement positions at the municipal, county, and state levels as a beat
officer, accident investigator, motorcycle officer, violent crimes
investigator, undercover operative, and internal affairs investigator;
during the seventeen years prior to his retirement he was the chief
executive with four public safety agencies.
His academic credentials include
a dual B.S. degree (Sociology & Social Welfare), a M.S. degree in the
Administration of Justice & Public Safety, and a 1999 graduate of the 101st.
Session, Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville.
During his career he graduated from the
Detroit Police Academy, the Northern Virginia Police Academy, and the
North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Academy. He has held state
certifications as a police trainer in Virginia, Florida, and currently
North Carolina.
