Personal Profile:

I was born in Henderson, and I was raised in Oxford, NC. Since high school I have lived in Roxboro, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Greenville, Franklinton, Alabama, and Japan. I moved to this area in 2000, and I have taught at HCC since the fall of 1999.

I believe that justifying the relevance of my curriculum is an integral part of my profession. I like to fully explain, with instances from practical life, how the student might benefit from the knowledge of a given subject or suffer from the lack of such knowledge.　I have found that one of the best ways to connect with students is to acknowledge the stresses and distractions that they are subject to and then to provide examples of how knowledge will help them overcome problems and achieve their goals.
