Philosophy of
Education:
I believe that education is the
key to opening doors in many different areas on life's journey.
I have had the opportunity to work with many
young students, as well as adults, on their path towards learning the
basic skills of reading and math.
Having had that opportunity to inform and
teach students, I know that education
can be used as a tool to enhance children's intellectual abilities.
I firmly believe that education is a gift of
service.
I have had the opportunity to work
with adults in increasing their awareness and ability to cope in their
community, school, and at home.
In working with these individuals, I have had
the ability to recognize key strategies that are necessary for them to
understand and recognize the power that educating themselves, despite
their environment, can have.
In addition, in working with students, I
strongly believe that any curriculum being taught, despite age, should be
developmentally appropriate and mind-enriching.
Each person should have a clear understanding
of testing procedure, and methods in order to effectively grasp the skills
necessary in order to succeed.
I have had the opportunity to work with
teachers, and fellow co-workers to develop these strategies, and to
individually adapt these skills to individual students learning styles.
I believe that some basic concepts
are needed in order to successfully obtain individual educational goals,
which include an intellectually stimulating and prepared environment,
promotion of self-education and independent thinking, as well as active
learning. I believe that motivation is key in the success of an aspiring
legal professional.
These ideals I am currently implementing in the
Paralegal Technology program at Halifax Community College.
