Education:
Bachelor of Arts, University of NC-Chapel Hill 1977
Elementary Education, Appalachian State University
1981-Boone, NC
Master of Science in Education-Early Childhood, Old
Dominion University-Norfolk, VA
Certification-Program for Infant Toddler Care-WestEd,

Experience :
I have over 10 years teaching in a variety of early
education settings, including a private school for children with dyslexia
ages 5-18, public school kindergarten, first and fourth grades, and as
director of an inclusive developmental day center serving typically and
atypically developing 2-5 year old children.
Philosophy:
I believe each individual
constructs his/her own knowledge, beginning before birth and continuing
until his/her physical body ceases to. I prefer to think of myself as a
facilitator, one who serves as a catalyst for learning by deliberately
gathering and organizing discipline content, designing appropriate lessons
for conveying this information and implementing a curriculum that is
respectful of and responsive to the unique experiences of all learners.
Learning is not passive it requires
action.
The student enrolling in class is the beginning of a
journey taken together- the individual student, the class as a whole and
the teacher.
On this journey, the student plays the lead
role; the teacher the supporting cast.
Certifications:
Trainer for the Program for Infant
Toddler Care-WestEd, Dep. of Ed., State
