Educational Philosophy:
Teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning new strategies,
learning from the community, learning from colleagues, and especially
learning from the students. My students have taught me to open my mind tp
the diversity of ideas in the world. My goal is to help students achieve
their goals so that they can be happy and successful in life.
Profile:
I am a native of Harlem in New York City. I feel great pride in the
diverse opportunities presented to me as a child and young adult. The
right people in my life gave me a chance to experience all that New York
City has to offer in terms of entertainment and education. I also traveled
fairly extensively as a child and young adult to places outside of the USA
like Canada , South America, and the Caribbean and to various states
within the USA. I attended Morgan State University for undergraduate
school and East Carolina University for graduate school. It was at ECU
that I found my love for teaching and my love of life, my husband. Both
cemented me to the south. I have been a proud faculty member of Halifax
Community College since 2001, and I love my students and I love imparting
knowledge to them. My hope is that they will use that knowledge to be
successful college students, successful in their chosen careers, and a
blessing to their communities.
