HCC Offers Small Business Seminars in May
Halifax Community College will
offer a number of small business seminars sponsored by the HCC Small
Business Center and the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce for the

Small Business Classes
“Notary Public” is slated for 6-9 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, May 19
& 21, Building 400, Room 412. Cost is $50. This course will present
the recent changes and prepare students to be commissioned or
appointed as a Notary Public. Limited to 25 students.
“Achieving Sales Projections with a Viable Marketing Plan” will be
offered from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, Room 412, FREE. Participants
will focus on the marketing plan and the importance of market
analysis in projecting sales. Use market analysis to evaluate the
ability of a marketing plan to produce sales.
Business & Industry
“Management 101” will run from 1-4 p.m., Thursday, May 22, Room 412,
FREE. Understand the differences between leadership, management and
supervision and the basic elements and principles of effective
management. Develop an “Action Plan” to help you become a better
leader.
Occupational Extension
“RE Pre-Licensing” will run from 6-9:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday,
May 13-July 17, Room 412. Cost is $60. This course is required to
qualify for the NC RE exam and to obtain an RE Broker license.
Students will gain basic knowledge and skills to act as a licensed
RE broker in a manner that protects and serves the public interest.
“RE Post-License: Contracts and Closing” will be offered from 9:00
a.m. -noon and 1:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, May 13-27, Room
412. Cost is $55. This course includes selected contracts and
preparation, sales contract procedures, closing procedures and
closing statement preparation, and real estate license status and
education issues.
“RE Post-License: Selected Topics” will run from 9:00 a.m.-noon and
1:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, May 27-June 10, Room 412. Cost
is $55. These 30 hours address commercial real estate brokerage,
residential property management, land use controls, loan fraud,
license law issues and case studies, fair housing, establishing a
brokerage firm, and manufactured and modular homes. |
