Former NFL Player to speak at Men to Men Summit
Halifax Community College will
host a “Men to Men Summit: Developing Men of Distinction” from 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1 at The Centre. Keynote speakers
will include former NFL player Troy D. Vincent and author Dr. Walter
Clark. The event is open to area males of all races and ages and is
FREE.
Vincent is a former professional football player with the Miami
Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Washington
Redskins. He is also an entrepreneur.
Clark is the author of “Backbone, Broken Bones, and Character:
Growing up bi-racial in the South Bronx.” He is currently the dean
of enrollment management at Roxbury Community College in Boston.
Topics to be covered at the summit include the hip hop generation
and pop culture, reclaiming the male image, economics, money and
power, creating a healthy balance between academics and athletics,
and more.
Organizers of the summit are especially interested in area high
school male attendance. “We are trying to give these students
leadership and guidance in how to balance their time, education and
employment,” said HCC counselor Eugene Brown. “This is a positive
message and will give them a game plan for their lives.”
Pre-registration is required no later than Apr. 24. For more
information or to register, contact Eugene Brown at browne@halifaxcc.edu
