Fire Services

The fire rescue program provides skills development training courses for all levels of fire and rescue personnel within the area.

ONLINE education: HCC is offering a variety of new online classes including certification classes. If you are interested in a particular online class you must preregister for that class. This can be done by coming into the college and filling out a form or by DOWNLOADING A FORM HERE. With the form downloaded and filled out you may fax it to 252-536-2241. If you fax the form please print very legibly and dark as the fax quality is often poor. Also call 252-536-7212 after the fax to ensure the fax got to the office. You may also mail the form to HCC Continuing Education Dept. PO Drawer 809 Weldon NC 27890 or you may drop the form off. Please ensure you include your signature and an email address.

Following your registration you will be notified via email (no later than 5pm on the Monday of the class start date) of your username, password and other information about your HCC Gmail account. All classes start at 5pm on the start date (Normally a Monday). If you are not able to log in after this time please contact us ASAP so we can solve the problem.

Typically shorter classes will be online for two weeks. Within this time the student will need to complete all of the material and assignments. Some classes (Hybrid) will have a class date for skills and/or testing. Students must make these dates for full class credit. Longer classes will have detailed syllabuses for the student to follow.

Remember online is not meant to be easier only more convenient. To take an online class the student must be committed, self starter and stay on track.

Note: HCC is planning to offer several fire and rescue certification classes on line in the near future. Please watch the schedule for new offerings.

The classes in the above document(s) are ones that have been requested. If your department would like to schedule classes for the upcoming summer or fall semester, please contact me as soon as possible. EMS persons are reminded to keep their continuing education status current. There are currently programs being offered at the following locations. If you are not sure about what you need to do to keep your MR or EMT of any level, please contact either HCEMS at 536-4494 or myself. Problems with these certifications are challenging to correct but almost impossible if you wait too long for us to help you.
